Prayer times that follow you from city to city.
The five daily prayers shift with the sun, so Isha in Lahore isn't Isha in Karachi, and both change through the year. Islam Companion uses your location to calculate each time for the exact spot you're in, then keeps a schedule for the coming days ready on the phone.
Travel to see family in another city and the times move with you. Prefer not to share your location? Enter your coordinates by hand and everything works the same way.

Calculated with the same Adhan library the app uses. With standard Asr, Asr that day would begin at 3:03 PM. Your own times depend on your location and date.
Hear the Adhan, or just a gentle nudge.
Full Adhan
The call to prayer plays when the time comes in. If the app is open, a Stop button silences it straight away.
Silent alert
Just a notification, for times you can't have the phone call out, like in a meeting or a lecture hall.
Early reminders
Be reminded 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes before a prayer, enough time to finish up and make wudu.
Per prayer
Set each prayer on its own. Full Adhan for Fajr, silent at Dhuhr while you're at work, whatever suits your day.
Alerts are scheduled on the phone, not sent from a server, so they still arrive on a flight, in a basement office or with mobile data switched off.
Match the timetable at your masjid.
Fajr and Isha depend on how far below the horizon the sun is taken to be, and different scholarly bodies use different angles. That's why two prayer apps can disagree by a few minutes.
Islam Companion includes the eight methods below. In Pakistan it starts with Karachi and Hanafi Asr, in Saudi Arabia with Umm al-Qura, and in the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait with their own methods. If your masjid's times are still a minute or two off, you can nudge any single prayer earlier or later.
| Method | Fajr | Isha | Commonly used in |
|---|---|---|---|
| University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi | 18° | 18° | Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan |
| Muslim World League | 18° | 17° | Europe, the Far East, parts of the Americas |
| Umm al-Qura, Makkah | 18.5° | 90 min after Maghrib | Saudi Arabia |
| Egyptian General Authority | 19.5° | 17.5° | Egypt, parts of Africa and the Levant |
| Dubai | 18.2° | 18.2° | United Arab Emirates |
| Qatar | 18° | 90 min after Maghrib | Qatar |
| Kuwait | 18° | 17.5° | Kuwait |
| Moonsighting Committee | 18° | 18°, adjusted by season | UK and North America |
Hanafi or standard Asr, your choice.
Asr is the prayer where madhabs differ most. The Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali schools start Asr when a shadow is as long as the object casting it. The Hanafi school waits until the shadow is twice that length, which pushes Asr later, by 45 minutes or more depending on the season and where you live.
Most Muslims in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Turkey pray Asr by the Hanafi time. Pick the one you follow during setup, and change it any time in Settings without reinstalling or re-entering your location.
About prayer times and the Adhan
How accurate are the prayer times?
Times are calculated from your exact coordinates using the open-source Adhan library, the same astronomical formulas used by many masajid timetables. Small differences from your local masjid usually come from the calculation method or a fixed adjustment the masjid adds, and both can be matched in Settings.
Which calculation method should I use in Pakistan or India?
Most masajid in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh follow the University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi method with Hanafi Asr. The app picks this automatically when you are in Pakistan. Elsewhere it starts with Muslim World League, and you can switch to Karachi and Hanafi in Settings in a couple of taps.
What is the difference between Hanafi and standard Asr?
Standard Asr, followed by the Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali schools, begins when an object's shadow equals its length plus its noon shadow. Hanafi Asr begins when the shadow reaches twice the object's length plus its noon shadow, so it is later, often by 45 minutes to over an hour depending on the season.
Will the Adhan play if my phone has no internet?
Yes. Alerts are scheduled on the phone itself for the next few days and refresh every time you open the app, so they arrive whether or not you are online.
Can I get a reminder before the prayer starts?
Yes. For each prayer you can be reminded at the start time or 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes before, and choose the full Adhan, a silent notification or no alert at all.
Do I have to share my location?
No. You can type in your coordinates instead. If you do allow location, it is used to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction.
